Strategy
US-Based Expert Advocacy
The Partnership works to develop and promote policies and practices that will promote sustainable, market-based agricultural development in Africa. It is a nonpartisan organization whose recommendations are informed by objective and expert analyses. It focuses on collecting the knowledge of the field, synthesizing it into practical ideas that work better than current policies and practices, and actively promoting these solutions to key decision-makers in the US and beyond.
The Partnership works toimprove the policies and practices of public, private and civil sector organizations in the US and other donor countries, and align them better with the needs and initiatives of African leaders and the contributions of other donor countries to improve the performance of African agricultural and rural economies.
The Partnership also works closely with civil and private sector organizations in the US, both to change their practices and to influence donor policies.
And finally, it engages African public sector leaders to promote better dialogue with US decision-makers; align US policies with African needs and initiatives; and help African countries realize the benefits of donor programs and policies.
Increasing African Engagement
Input from African experts and leaders ensures that the Partnership is addressing the most important issues and developing sound and effective recommendations that are informed by and aligned with African priorities. The Partnership works to continually expand its network of African experts, leaders and organizations and engage them more systematically in all aspects of its work.
Promoting Private Enterprise
The Partnership sees the growth of private enterprise and investment as a necessary condition for healthy rural economies in Africa. It therefore sees the private commercial sector, i.e. businesses and investors in the US and Africa, as a critical partner in African development.
