Leaked NSC Document Envisions New U.S. Approach to Development

Yesterday, a leaked draft of the Presidential Study Directive on Global Development Policy (PSD-7) was published by Foreign Policy.com reporter Josh Rogin. The National Security Council document, titled “A New Way Forward on Global Development,” lays out a fresh vision for the strategy and structure behind U.S. development efforts. The key points include elevating development into balance with diplomacy and defense in U.S. foreign policy, restoring the United States Agency for International Development to its global leadership role, and bolstering transparency and accountability of U.S. foreign assistance.
