Coffee, Commerce, and Communities: Small Scale Agricultural Development in East Africa will detail the path from coffee farm to a cup of Peet’s Uzuri African Blend. Driven by a desire to create high quality East African coffee and sustainable economic change, Peet’s Coffee and Technoserve joined forces to train the farmers in identifying and growing quality coffee beans. Three years into the project, 6,000 farmers are earning higher incomes from the nationwide sales of this outstanding coffee.

Named by the farmers, “Uzuri” means excellent and beautiful in Swahili. Uzuri African Blend will be served from 9:00 – 9:30 am for attendees to taste and experience the “beautiful” coffee from Tanzania, Kenya and Rwanda.
